100th Anniversary 1916 Uprising Tour

In April 2016 join Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones on their home soil for an unforgettable 10 day journey around the historical sites and landmarks to commemorate the Irish Rebellion of 1916.
Fri. 15th: Depart hometown or JFK for overnight flight to Dublin.
Sat. 16th: After clearing Immigration in Dublin you will be greeted by your driver/guide. He will escort you and your luggage to your hotel. At 2:00pm meet Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones as we venture out on an orientation city tour of Dublin, taking in some of the 1916 sites including Mount Street Bridge & Padraig Pearse’s House. The next visit is St. Endas, a former school run by Padraig Pearse, now a museum. Tonight we will meet for dinner in our hotel. Ballsbridge Hotel
Sun. 17th: Today we explore more of Dublin with visits to Dublin Castle, Arbour Hill Cemetery, Kilmainham Jail, (where the
executions took place of the leaders of the 1916 Uprising). You will also visit Glasnevin Cemetery where you will learn about the
lives of these great hero’s. This afternoon you will have some free time to explore on your own. This evening enjoy entertainment by Derek and The Young Wolfe Tones. Ballsbridge Hotel
Mon. 18th: We depart Dublin this morning and head north with the first stop at the Neolithic tombs at Bru Na Boinne (Newgrange). We then continue on to Belfast where you will visit Milltown Cemetery. Your driver will then take you on a panoramic city tour of Belfast, which includes the Falls and Shankill Roads where you will learn about the cities turbulent past. Tonight dinner is in your hotel. Tue. 19th: Today is the beautiful scenic drive up the Glens of Antrim (where Roger Casment spent his youth) to the world famous Giants Causeway. Here you will have an opportunity to walk out on these amazing basalt columns that were a result of volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. It’s then on to Derry City where Derek has arranged a welcome for you with some of the locals. We return to Belfast. Jury’s Inn
Wed. 20th: Departing after breakfast we head west, enroute to Ballina you will make a visit to Belleek China Factory. After the visit we continue on to Kiltyclogher, the birthplace of Sean MacDiarmada, one of the leaders executed in 1916. On arrival in Ballina you will have the opportunity to visit the Jackie Clarke Museum home to the ORIGINAL 1916 PROCLAMATION. Dinner tonight is in your hotel. Ballina Manor Hotel
Thurs. 21st: After breakfast we head to Galway City through the beautiful region of Connemara. In Galway you will have some free time to explore and visit the statue of Liam Mellows, Commander of the Western Division of the 1916 Rising. We return to Ballina with the remainder of the evening free to explore the pubs and restaurants. Ballina Manor
Fri. 22nd: Our first visit today is the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise founded by St. Ciaran in 544. We continue on to Co.
Clare to the majestic Cliffs of Moher, which rise 700 feet about the wild Atlantic. You will have an opportunity to walk, take some amazing photos, explore the interpretive center and even do some shopping. Our final destination today is the city of Ennis. Dinner tonight is in the hotel. An authentic traditional Irish music & song session will take place in the bar of the Templegate Hotel after dinner, so feel free to bring along your instruments and fine singing voices. Sat. 23rd: Today enroute to Blarney Castle we pass through Limerick City the home of King John’s Castle. In Blarney you will have plenty of time for shopping and the “option” to kiss the magical stone. We continue on to our final destination of Waterford City. Dinner tonight is in the hotel. Sun. 24th: It’s off to New Ross, Co. Wexford today to visit The Dunbrody, a replica of a famine ship which many immigrants set sale on to America. Before returning to Waterford it’s on to Enniscorthy, where you will be met by a local guide who will inform you of the significance this area had in the history from 1798 up to 1916. Today, is the actual 100th anniversary date of the Easter Rising. You will also have an option of travelling to Dublin City for the day to visit some of the commemorative events that will be taking place in Dublin City. Dooley’s Hotel
Mon. 25th: We drive directly to Dublin today for a full day of events and some free time. Tonight enjoy dinner & entertainment by Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones and get to experience his now and exciting “Irish Rebellion Show” in the Celt Bar on Talbot Street The show includes a three course set meal served from The La Bon Crubeen Restaurant, winner in 2010 and short listed as a finalist in 2012 of the Irish Restaurant Awards for “Best Casual Dining Restaurant in Dublin.” Camden Court Hotel
Tues. 26th: Sadly today our journey together has to end. Transfer to the airport in plenty of time for last minute duty free shopping before clearing customs.
